We can’t say enough good things about this small-capacity lodge. We arrived in the off season and including us, there were only five guests on site staying in marvelous screened in bungalows nestled into the hillside right inside the entrance to Bwindi National Park. The view from our porch looked out across the valley to the mist-shrouded mountain home of Bwindi’s gorillas.
The staff totally catered to the needs of its clientele, asking us when we would like breakfast and dinner, as well as our breakfast and dinner choices for the day. After a tough soggy hike and a magical encounter with gorillas, we were offered free 30 minute massages (tip is optional but recommended if you feel the service is good) and our hiking clothes AND boots were expertly cleaned and dried for us no charge by the next evening. The food was outstanding. Turns out the chef is professionally trained and our dinners looked like artwork. It was really tough leaving this lodge- two nights was not enough.
Be prepared to do a lot of stairs, as all the bungalows and the main lodge/dining area are up at least one flight of wide, wooden steps.
