Buhoma Lodge, an intimate and charming property that commands spectacular and uninterrupted views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to the rare and elusive Mountain Gorilla. One of only two lodges situated within the National Park, within a short walking distance from the meeting point for gorilla tracking and other activities in the Buhoma area. An elevated central area, complete with lounge, bar and dining area, offers a cosy, comfortable environment to discuss the day’s activities around the fireplaces which add atmosphere and warmth in the cool evenings.

					  We were greeted at our jeep with some delicious tree tomato juice and our experience only got better from there. We found that the Buhoma staff were incredibly friendly and... read more eager to assist all guests in whatever way possible throughout our whole stay. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view of the forest and some monkey visitors during the nights. Everything was clean and tidy as well. We quite enjoyed the food, a lot of soups, but they were all delicious. Our guide, Ellis, was amazing and we would highly recommend him.

Other information: They provided all of the "extras" we needed for the gorilla trek including a walking stick, gaiters, lots of extra water, and even a backpack! They also clean your shoes after arrival back at the camp, which was something I wouldn't have thought of but turned out to be a great amenity! The day after our trek, we went to Ride 4 a Woman down the road hand had the most amazing day cooking and crafting with the women. We ended up spending about 6 hours there and then returned to Buhoma to relax in the rain. It was perfect and I would highly recommend adding this to your itinerary. More

					  Our trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to see the gorillas was headlined by the wonderful Buhoma Lodge.  Loved the room with its views.  Loved the common area with... read more its views and comforts (and bar).  LOVED the service.  Don’t want to ruin all the surprises awaiting you but it included drinks, massage post-trek, washing of boots, provision of gators, hot water bottle in the bed are some of the treats in store.  The staff were wonderful, especially those we saw most often like Davidson, Winnie, Dan and Collin.  And did I mention the food is to die for.  I know, this sounds like a fake review, but it’s not. Gorilla Trekking Experience

Mountain gorillas are wild animals and, as such, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However viewing success rates are over 90%. Once sighted, visitors are allowed an hour with the gorillas. Overnighting in Bwindi is required the night before tracking due to your early morning start. As tracking can sometimes take a full day, a second nights accommodation is also highly recommended. Ideally 2 to 3 nights are suggested to enjoy this region.

By Road

Buhoma in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a full day’s drive from Entebbe or Kampala, six hours drive from Lake Mburo National Park, two hours drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha Sector). See a detailed road map with directions.

Our reservations staff can assist you in all aspects of gorilla trekking, from getting to/from Bwindi to planning of a fully-inclusive, tailor-made Uganda Safari incorporating the trekking of Mountain Gorillas.

By Air

Twice daily scheduled light-aircraft flights land at the nearby Kihihi airstrip approximately 90-120 minutes’ drive from Buhoma, depending upon road conditions. It is also possible to charter a flight to Kihihi from Entebbe or various locations around Uganda or other major hubs in East Africa.
